McLean, VA (PRWEB) April 24, 2017

RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association is pleased to announce USA TODAY as its official media partner for National Infertility Awareness Week® (NIAW), April 23 through April 29. NIAW is a movement to educate the public and create greater understanding about infertility. With release of its video project "The Psychology of Infertility" during NIAW, USA TODAY will promote greater awareness about infertility by following the journey of three couples trying to build their family.

Centered around this year's NIAW theme ‘Listen Up,' RESOLVE is engaging the infertility community to use its collective voice to raise awareness about infertility, emphasizing that infertility does not discriminate based on race, religion, sexuality, or economic status.

"We are thrilled to partner with USA TODAY to amplify the voice of the infertility community so that the general public can ‘Listen Up' and better understand infertility and the needs of our community," said Barbara Collura, RESOLVE's President/CEO. "USA TODAY's ‘The Psychology of Infertility' tells the stories of real people facing real struggles as they build their families. We at RESOLVE hear these type of stories every day and we are delighted that USA TODAY is using its platform to bring attention to the many barriers millions face in pursuit of a family."

In the United States, 1 in 8 couples faces infertility, and USA TODAY's "The Psychology of Infertility" video project shows the real people behind this statistic. "The Psychology of Infertility" follows three couples through their committed, often challenging, and deeply personal journeys to parenthood through adoption, IVF, and surrogacy. Along the way, USA TODAY explores the medical, financial, social, and emotional issues couples face when building their family is a challenge.

Each year the infertility community comes together during NIAW to raise awareness about challenges to family building and methods of resolution. NIAW is also a time to enhance public understanding that infertility deserves attention and educate legislators about infertility and how it impacts people in their state. In 2010 NIAW became a federally recognized health observance by the Department of Health and Human Services.
