Island's Oldest Farm To Be 100% Sustainably Powered

Bartlett's Farm is the oldest and largest farm on Nantucket, and will soon be the host of the island's largest solar installation. Energy is particularly expensive on the island, and the reduced operating expenses will help the farm further serve its customers and the community. This is not the farm's first foray into renewable energy, having participated in wind energy projects as early as the 1980s.

The solar project will be 595 kilowatts, on roughly three acres. The installation will offset 100% of the farm's consumption, making it one of the only farms of its size in Massachusetts that is run entirely with sustainable energy.
