Lymphoma Research Foundation Leads National and International Campaign During Blood Cancer Awareness Month with Light it Red for Lymphoma Initiative
Lymphoma Research Foundation Adds New Lighting Partners During September
New York, NY (PRWEB) September 01, 2016
The Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF) – the nation's largest non-profit organization devoted exclusively to funding innovative lymphoma research and serving the lymphoma community through a comprehensive series of education programs, outreach initiatives and patient services – will once again host its annual Light it Red for Lymphoma awareness initiative, a high-profile awareness campaign during which national and international landmarks will light red in support of LRF and the greater lymphoma community. Now in its sixth year, the Lymphoma Research Foundation's Light it Red for Lymphoma campaign helps to raise critical funds and awareness of blood cancer throughout the month of September, recognized each year by the United States Congress as Blood Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM).
Capped by World Lymphoma Awareness Day on September 15, Light it Red for Lymphoma is designed to garner awareness and provide hope to those touched by this disease by encouraging not only buildings, landmarks and businesses to light red, but also individuals to dress in red and support BCAM on social media during the month of September. In addition to the Light it Red for Lymphoma campaign, this year, the Lymphoma Research Foundation will further seek to raise funds and awareness during Blood Cancer Awareness month by hosting a series of patient education events, active lifestyle events including the 10th Annual Lymphoma Research Ride in Montgomery County, Maryland on September 25, and ticketed events such as the 2016 LRF Annual Gala: An Evening of Incredible Inspiration, on September 28 at the Mandarin Oriental New York, all in support of LRF's mission during BCAM.
In direct partnership with the Lymphoma Research Foundation, more than 50 national and international landmarks will participate in this year's Light it Red for Lymphoma campaign, including the Taipei 101 in Taipei, Taiwan; CN Tower in Ontario, Canada; the National Concert Hall in Dublin, Ireland; One World Trade Center in New York, NY; Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in Los Angeles, Calif.; Willis Tower in Chicago, Ill.; South Station in Boston, Mass.; General Motors Headquarters in Detroit, Mich.; Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory (The Domes) in Milwaukee, Wisc.; 4 Times Square in New York, N.Y.; the Bank of America Plaza in Dallas, Tex.; the Pacific Science Center in Seattle, Wash. and more. "The first step in eradicating a disease like lymphoma is raising awareness on behalf of all those affected by this type of blood cancer," said Meghan Gutierrez, LRF Chief Executive Officer. "Each year, we at the Lymphoma Research Foundation are honored to convene these wonderful lighting partners from around the world in this truly global show of support for the lymphoma community, with the hope of raising awareness for all those touched by this disease."
In addition to the awareness that LRF hopes to generate through these high-visibility shows of support, the Foundation is also encouraging individuals to get involved in the Light it Red for Lymphoma campaign in their own homes, in their hometowns, and online. In conjunction with BCAM, the Lymphoma Research Foundation will host a "Give 15" campaign which encourages gifts in multiples of $15 in honor of World Lymphoma Awareness day on September 15.
