FWV Selected by Teen Cancer America as Pro Bono Marketing Partner


Agency to Support The Who's Non-Profit Mission

French West Vaughan (FWV), one of the nation's largest independently-owned public relations, advertising and digital marketing agencies, today announced a pro bono partnership with Teen Cancer America(TCA), the national non-profit founded by rock 'n' roll icons Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend of The Who. FWV will provide the organization public relations and advertising support to raise awareness of the TCA mission to enhance hospital services for teenagers battling cancer.

Daltrey and Townshend created TCA in 2012 to improve clinical services and facilities for teenagers in treatment who often find themselves either in pediatric wards with young children or alongside older adults, making a difficult situation even worse. TCA has inspired superstars such as Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, Joan Jett and The Band Perry to join the nationwide effort to help develop hospital environments that address both the clinical and the psychosocial needs of teens and young adults with cancer.

"TCA is doing amazing work for young people who are going through extremely challenging times, both physically and psychologically," said Rick French, FWV Chairman and CEO. In addition to its expertise in the healthcare and non-profit sectors, FWV is closely tied to the music and entertainment industries with clients that include UphoricTV and the Backstreet Boys. French is a national trustee of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame + Museum and is involved in motion picture production through partnerships with Relativity Media and Posse Films.

Raleigh is the U.S. hub for TCA in the Southeast. Sally Webb, CEO of The Special Event Company in Cary, is a founding board member and regional lead. Raleigh-based First Citizens Bank, the largest family-owned bank in the U.S., recently adopted TCA as its primary charity, launching a TV ad campaign using a new version of Townshend's hit song, "Let My Love Open the Door," performed by Daltrey. TCA hospital initiatives in North Carolina include Duke Medical Center and UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Across the U.S., TCA has projects underway or in development with world class cancer centers at UCLA, Stanford, Memorial Sloan Kettering (New York), Dana-Farber (Harvard), Yale, University of Chicago, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Moffitt (Tampa), Vanderbilt, Baylor and Case University Hospitals. Partnerships with more than 50 hospitals around the country are in various stages of planning.
