Camsurf, an innovative G-rated video chat community, has launched the world's first online ‘Safe Space' social network which aims to stop bullying in the virtual world

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) April 12, 2016

Camsurf is delighted to announce the launch of the world's first 'Safe Space' social network, an innovation designed to put a stop to cyberbullying through education and active participation. The idea behind the campaign stems from the rise in bullying and harassment on the web, specifically on social networks such as Facebook, Snapchat and Twitter, a phenomenon which has grown rapidly in recent years to become more prevalent than bullying in the real world.

Users of Camsurf, and anyone else who feels overwhelmed by the rise in cyberbullying, can access the online arena and find a range of educational material and statistics, ask questions anonymously, and interact with other users in a safe and understanding environment. Participation in ‘Safe Space' is solely focused on putting a stop to cyberbullying and all forms of online harassment. It is the first social network to openly place an emphasis on discussing and eliminating cyberbullying in a dedicated environment.

"Safe Space is the world's first platform to make a dedicated stance against cyberbullying", said Camsurf co-founder Allen Fox, "By implementing our "Safe Space" campaign we hope to dramatically decrease the chances of our users being bullied while using our service and to spread awareness of the issue of cyberbullying which is often neglected or dismissed as not being harmful".

The "Safe Space" campaign is part of a wider initiative by Camsurf to create a family-friendly and safe environment where people can chat, make new friends, and relax online. As part of the campaign, Camsurf has also retrained their team of moderators, who monitor users of their video chat platform, by sending them on a cyberbullying awareness course which teaches them how to spot the signs of cyberbullying and how to deal with situations involving online harassment.

According to statistics from bullyingstatistics.org, over half of adolescents and teens have been bullied online while approximately the same number have engaged in cyberbullying. Of the teens being bullied only one in 10 tell someone about it. Perhaps even more shocking are statistics from internetsafety101.org which claim that 95% of social media-using teens have witnessed cruel behavior on social networking sites, with 55% of these frequently witnessing forms of cyberbullying. These figures show the need for awareness and a "Safe Space" social network, something which other social networking sites have so far neglected. By launching this campaign, Camsurf has made a stance against cyberbullying and reiterated their standing as the safest video chat community online.
