Six Ann Arbor Companies Win Accelerate Michigan Innovation Competition

ANN ARBOR, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Yesterday, six companies served by Ann Arbor SPARK were announced as winners of the Accelerate Michigan Innovation Competition. One of the companies, Genomenon, was awarded second place in the competition, and won $100,000. Five of the companies were awarded $25,000 sector-specific prizes.

Genomenon, a life sciences company focused on personalized medicine with simplified genome interpretation software, received support from Ann Arbor SPARK throughout its evolution. The company benefited from business acceleration grants for legal work that included corporate formation, licensing, and contract, as well as grants for branding and website work. The company also received investment from the Michigan Angel Fund.

The five companies served by SPARK that were awarded sector specific prizes of $25,000 are:

The winning companies were chosen after two days of investor presentations at the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel in downtown Detroit. The Accelerate Michigan Innovation Competition was attended by investors, entrepreneurs, funders, and experts in the innovation sector from across the globe.
