Spencer Richlin, MD and Lisa Schuman, LCSW of Reproductive Medicine Associates of Connecticut (RMACT) will explain egg freezing and lead a discussion about this reproductive option that gives women options for the future.

Stamford, CT (PRWEB) April 23, 2015

Reproductive Medicine Associates of Connecticut (RMACT), which has the most advanced embryology lab in Connecticut, is hosting an educational seminar about egg freezing on Monday, April 27, 2015 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Barcelona Wine Bar (222 Summer Street, Stamford, CT). Dr. Spencer Richlin, a fertility specialist, and Lisa Schuman, LCSW, a renown fertility and egg freezing counselor, each have more than 20 years in the fertility field. They will explain the process and medicine behind oocyte cryopreservation, commonly known as egg freezing, as well as discuss the questions that patients can ask themselves to determine if egg freezing is right for them. There will also be an open question and answer discussion.

"For many women, egg freezing is a viable opportunity for women who want a family – just not right now," says Dr. Spencer Richlin. "I have had heart-breaking conversations with patients when I recommend using donor eggs. Egg freezing helps prevent these conversations and gives women more options for the future."

Lisa Schuman, LCSW, Mental Health Director at RMACT and Chair of the Oocyte Cryopreservation Task Force for the Mental Health Professional Group of American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), explains: "Oocyte cryopreservation is as empowering for women today as the Pill was 50 years ago. Women delay childbearing for a variety of reasons, including pursuing career goals, finding the right partner or medical treatment such as chemotherapy, and they are embracing this option to take control of their family building options."

Schuman is one of the country's foremost experts on oocyte preservation and its impact on patients. She has won several awards for her research and academic papers on oocyte cryopreservation, including recognition of two of her most recent studies at the 2014 Annual ASRM Meeting.

"Preserving Your Fertility Through Egg Freezing" is a complimentary event, but registration is required. To register, please email eggfreezing(at)rmact(dot)com. Tapas and refreshments will be served.
