Ethanol Plant in Buffalo Lake, MN For Sale

Purified Renewable Energy (PRE) is selling a Katzen Technology corn-based, dry mill, fuel-grade ethanol production facility with a nameplate capacity of 18 million gallons per year, in Buffalo Lake, MN. PRE filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on March 25, 2013.

The facility will be sold at a §363 bankruptcy auction on August 8, 2013. Qualified bids, including a $125,000 deposit, are due July 31, 2013. Complete case information can be found at the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Minnesota, Case No. 13-41446 (PACER login required).

The PRE plant was operated from April 1997 through March 2010 and from April 2012 through March 2013. It has been in “cold-idle” since then. The plant sits on a 16-acre site in Buffalo Lake, MN. It is located in the Midwest corn belt and receives grain and ships ethanol and distillers grains via truck. Other assets included in the sale are a 5.9-acre agricultural property across the road and approximately 225,000 gallons of denatured ethanol storage.
