UnitedHealthcare Opens New Health Benefits Store in Los Angeles' Koreatown
UnitedHealthcare today opened a new health benefits store in the heart of Los Angeles' Koreatown, continuing the company's nearly 20-year commitment to serving local residents with comprehensive and personalized customer service in their communities.

Community leaders and UnitedHealthcare executives gathered today for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the Asian Resource Center, 2970 W. Olympic Blvd. in Los Angeles.
The center is UnitedHealthcare's 23rd store in the United States and the fifth in California. This new store will focus on serving the Korean-American community, providing Medicare beneficiaries with customer service support and information about their Medicare coverage options. Visitors can meet with customer service professionals to discuss their health benefits in English or Korean. If they are ready to enroll in one of UnitedHealthcare's Medicare plans, they can do so right at the store with the help of a licensed sales agent.
“UnitedHealthcare is opening the Asian Resource Center in Los Angeles' Koreatown to provide Medicare-eligible individuals with simple, personalized information about their Medicare coverage and their health and well-being needs,” said Chris Law, national vice president, UnitedHealthcare's Asian Initiatives. “We look forward to providing additional health and wellness education for Korean Americans in the community as well as greater support to local small businesses.”
In addition to serving the needs of Medicare-eligible residents, UnitedHealthcare will provide information about its small-business benefits plans at the Asian Resource Center and host free public health education events on topics such as nutrition, exercise and disease management.

UnitedHealthcare was one of the first health insurers to provide culturally relevant health care services to Asian Americans. In 1994, the company founded its Asian Initiatives business and established an office in New York City's Chinatown to serve Asian Americans living in the area.
In 2008, UnitedHealthcare opened a resource center in Alhambra, Calif., to serve the health care needs of Chinese Americans in the greater Los Angeles and Orange County area.
The opening of the Asian Resource Center in Koreatown brings to five the number of year-round health benefits stores that UnitedHealthcare operates in Southern California. In addition to the locations in Alhambra and Los Angeles, UnitedHealthcare MedicareStores in Apple Valley, Baldwin Hills and Chula Vista enable people to learn about UnitedHealthcare's portfolio of Medicare plans and get answers to questions about their Medicare coverage. The MedicareStores in California are among 15 MedicareStores open year-round across the country.
