LAKE FOREST, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Lake Forest Graduate School of Management (LFGSM) is pleased to announce the election of financial services executive Carlos Minetti to its Board of Directors. Minetti is President of Consumer Banking and Operations, responsible for Discover's Deposits, Personal, Student and Home Loans businesses.

“We are pleased to welcome Carlos Minetti to our Board of Directors,” said LFGSM President & CEO John Popoli. “Carlos brings deep insights and experience in areas that are critical to us at the Graduate School. He has led significant strategic planning, risk management, product development, operations and customer service initiatives for Discover and American Express, and we have no doubt that his experience will be most valuable and useful to our own strategic planning, program innovation, and constituent relations activities. We look forward to the contributions he will make to the school's leadership team and our unique, innovative business community that LFGSM represents.”

Minetti joined Discover Financial Services in 2001 and is currently President of Consumer Banking and Operations. He launched the Deposits and Lending businesses in 2007 and most recently led the acquisitions of the The Student Loan Corporation STU and the Home Loan Center from Lending Tree, LLC. (NASDAQ: Tree). In addition, he is responsible for firm-wide service delivery, including the cardmember services and processing services functions. Prior to assuming responsibilities for the consumer banking business, Minetti was Discover's Chief Risk Officer and was directly responsible for managing credit, market and operational risk.

Prior to joining Discover in 2001, Minetti served as Senior Vice President of card operations for American Express, most recently managing the company's largest U.S. operating center in Fort Lauderdale. He also led American Express's customer service utility, which provides card-related customer servicing for all of the company's U.S. cardmembers. Other senior leadership positions Minetti held within American Express include senior roles in corporate risk management, card acquisition, portfolio management, credit operations, and training.

“Lake Forest Graduate School of Management has become a leader in meeting the educational needs of tomorrow's business community, and it's my honor to serve them as a member of the Board,” said Carlos Minetti. “I look forward to working together to create and provide new programs so the School can continue to serve its diverse base of talented students, clients, alumni and the broader business community.”

Minetti earned a BS in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University, and an MBA from University of Chicago. He is a member of the Board and Executive Committee of The Better Business Bureau of Chicago and Northern Illinois. He was elected to the Board of Directors of Lake Forest Graduate School of Management in March 2013 and will serve a three-year term on the Board's Research, Development & Innovation Committee.
