Chennai, Tamil Nadu (PRWEB) January 05, 2013

Actor Jiiva celebrated his 28th birthday through carrying out welfare plans for the poor and the needy. Jiiva visited several orphanages in Chennai and distributed sweets and served food for the inmates of the orphanage.

Finally, in event held in Social Club in T Nagar, Jiiva presented 10 kilos of Pongal rice and saris to about 200 poor women. Directors who directed Jiiva and those who are now directing movies starring Jiiva participated.

Jiiva gave an interview to reporters, saying that, "Usually, people celebrate birthdays at home by cutting the cake. When I was a youth, I threw parties with friends and celebrated my birthday. As I gained maturity, I thought a bit. There is selfishness in celebrating our birthday for our own happiness.

"So I thought of making others happy on my birthday. So, for the past few years, I have been providing assistance to needy people. But I have not publicised this. But, this year, out of exceeding eagerness, my manager publicised it.

"Three of my Tamil movies await release during 2013. Movie ‘David' starring Vikram, ‘Enrenrum Punnagai' directed by Ahmed, and ‘Yaan' directed by Ravi K Chandran are important ventures that I do."

When asked, "You have abruptly gone for social service... Is there plan to get into politics?" Jiiva replied, "Why boss... everything is progressing smoothly... We are all Mother Teresa's party." The details are mentioned in press meet by Jiiva at Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
