LifeStorage Bridgeview Partners with Local LifeSource for a Health Fair and Blood Drive

LifeStorage Bridgeview is partnering with Illinois' largest blood center, LifeSource, for its first ever health fair and blood drive event on January 5th.

Bridgeview, IL (PRWEB) January 04, 2013

LifeStorage, Chicago self storage provider for home and business, records management and office solutions, is parting with LifeSource, Chicagoland's Blood Center, for a Health Fair. Come ring in the new year and put those resolutions to the test with two of Chicago's own. Stop by LifeStorage-Bridgeview at 7700 W. 79th Street in Bridgeview on January 5th and visit with our many participants and learn more about leading a healthy life, getting fit, losing weight, and eating right. LifeSource is also hosting a blood drive at the event and encourages all eligible donors to stop by and donate.

LifeSource is a non-profit corporation and is the largest blood center in Illinois. It distributes a half-million blood products annually to approximately 60 area hospitals and operates 18 donor centers, and 4 mobile unit supported centers, one of which will be on premises at this event. LifeStorage-Bridgeview Store Managers David Moy and Nancy Warrer are thrilled to have LifeSource as a co-sponsor.

“The date and timing was what made our event unique! We decided to do it right after the New Year because of everyone's' resolution to get fit, lose weight, eat right, etc.! What better time to learn how?” Woy said. “As far as partnering with LifeSource, it was Nancy's idea to give them a call. The stories between the two of us of how alike our company's names are and how we each received calls in the past from people looking to donate blood, rather than rent storage were tossed back and forth. They will be bringing out their donor bus to draw the attention to the property and to work out of, and we're hoping for a big turnout.”

In addition to LifeSource, LifeStorage Bridgeview reached out to local businesses to participate as well. Two that jumped at the opportunity are Chiropractor Dr. Mohamed Shalabi from Health 1st Center and Entrepreneur Tara Lukasik agent for Body by ViSalus. These two were immediately on board and are both eager to participate and spread good health. Also invited are all local fitness centers in the area as well as our contacts at the CFBA (Chicago Fire Business Alliance), Burbank and Bridgeview Chambers, and local nutritionists to participate.

“I think being healthy is overall very important to everyone. We each have our 'bad' or 'cheating' foods, but know that these things, in moderation, will not destroy us. However, sometimes it takes a drastic wake-up call to get people on the health kick. Whether it be a last trip to the doctor, unexpected trip to the hospital, or a simple visit to your personal weight scale, everyone vows to do better after. We are just trying to make the answers to the questions no one likes to ask readily available during our Blood Drive/Health Fair so that no one has to ask them,” Moy said.
