The word of one man carries enough weight to make thousands of people across the state quit smoking - Super Star Rajinikanth.
Chennai, Tamil Nadu (PRWEB) January 02, 2013
To kick off the New Year, Superstar Rajinikanth met with the management officials of his Fan Club from the Chennai District. The event was held in Raghavendra Hall in Chennai on New Year's Day.
Rajinikanth said that his health had been affected due to heavy smoking, and requested his fans with the habit to ‘kick the butt'. Following Rajinikanth's request, many fans quit smoking. Speaking at a function on his birthday earlier this month, Rajinikanth had said, "I have not touched a cigarette for the last few movies that I have made. Not one of my fans should smoke, so please quit the habit".
In Saidapet, many fans including Fan Club leader Saidai Ravi, set ablaze packets of cigarettes. In a procession aimed at awareness, Rajinikanth fans stressed the importance of ‘kicking the butt'. Following the actions by his fans, Rajinikanth met with them and appreciated them for quitting their bad habit.
Fans greeted the Superstar and spoke to Rajinikanth, saying ‘Daily, we used to smoke six packets of cigarette. We have quit the habit upon your request. Out of quitting the habit, we are saving about Rs. 300 daily. Thank you, our families are happy'. Rajinikanth conveyed his happiness at their decision.
Last month, on his birthday, Rajinikanth also met his fans and received birthday wishes. Later, that day Rajini participated in a public meeting on the YMCA Grounds in Royapettah to speak to his fans.
On New Year's day about 20 fans presented documents to Rajini declaring their support for organ donation. Tamil Cine Star Rajinikanth cheerfully accepted those documents.
