Island Center receives a dynamic facelift and an extraordinary new food market.

Charleston, SC (PRWEB) January 02, 2013

Pastime Amusement Company is pleased to announce that Newton Farms, a subsidiary brand of Piggly Wiggly Carolina Company will open a store at the newly renovated Island Center on the Isle of Palms. Their first location near Kiawah and Seabrook has been a true success.

“We are confident their offerings will greatly exceed the needs and expectations of both the residents and visitors of the Isle of Palms,” said Leonard D. Way, Vice President of Pastime Amusement Company. “The Newton Farms team understands the unique dynamics of catering to both the local resident and the vacationer. Island Center has served Isle of Palms residents for more than fifty years, and we are excited to renovate and re-develop the center with a local grocery partner. This extends the longstanding and successful partnership we have enjoyed with Piggly Wiggly Carolina Company in numerous locations over many years.”

Newton Farms is a gourmet food market that combines healthy and unique specialty food items from around the corner and around the world with a great selection of everyday grocery items to make one-stop shopping possible. The store will feature fresh, locally grown produce, a bakery selling made-from-scratch pastries and breads, full-service meat and seafood counters, an eat-in deli serving traditional Southern dishes and made-to-order sandwiches, a floral design studio with fresh-cut flowers, and an extensive selection of wine and beer from around the world.

A new four-bay retail building is being built to accommodate three of the centers existing tenants that need to be relocated. The existing buildings that remain will receive a façade renovation. Additionally, the parking lots and service areas will receive a much-needed upgrade. The four-bay retail building construction began in November and is scheduled for completion by the end of March 2013. The new grocery store will begin construction in 2013 with an anticipated completion by the 2014 summer season. All existing, local tenants will remain open during the redevelopment process.
