The First Tee of Greater Chicago To Teach Youths at 2013 Tinley Park Golf Expo

GLENVIEW, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

The First Tee of Greater Chicago and The Tinley Park Golf Expo are proud to announce a new cooperative program that will introduce area youths to the game of golf and the valuable life lessons the game teaches.

As part of the second annual Tinley Park Golf Expo, scheduled for Feb. 8-10, 2013 at the Tinley Park Convention Center, representatives of The First Tee of Greater Chicago will host a new, giant Junior Golf Learning Center inside the exhibit hall. Introductory golf lessons will be provided free to children between the ages of 5 and 12 and admission to the Expo is free for children 12 and under when accompanied by a paid adult.

In addition to free introductory lessons, children will have an opportunity to compete for prizes when they play SNAG® Golf (Start New at Golf). Kids and parents will also learn The First Tee Nine Core Values and The First Tee Nine Healthy Habits upon which The First Tee of Greater Chicago and nearly 200 other chapters throughout the U.S. are built.

“Even though our inaugural golf expo was a great success, we wanted to enhance the show by adding a component for junior golfers and families with young children who want to learn more about junior golf,” stated Gregg Tengerstrom, PGA Member Professional and co-founder of the Tinley Park Golf Expo. “With the involvement of The First Tee of Greater Chicago, we will be able to do just that,” he added.

At the Expo, golfers of all ages who participate in the Taylor Made® Longest Putt and Longest Drive competitions will also have an opportunity to support The First Tee of Greater Chicago.

While there is no fee to compete and great prizes will be awarded to daily winners, contestants will be asked to make a free-will cash donation to The First Tee of Greater Chicago in any amount they wish. All contributions are welcome and 100% of all funds received will go to support the programs of The First Tee of Greater Chicago.
