Mansfield, TX (PRWEB) December 31, 2012
Design-build construction firm Ramtech Building Systems of Mansfield, TX has announced that the company has secured a design-build contract for the design, manufacture, and construction of a new twelve-classroom wing addition for Arlington Classics Academy of Arlington, TX. The new modular school building will utilize Ramtech's Accelerated Building System (ABS) permanent modular construction method to provide for an 11,648 square foot facility that will accommodate additional 7th and 8th grade students at the Charter School's middle school campus. Manufacturing of the modular buildings is expected to begin during the first quarter of 2013 in order to meet a project completion date prior to the start of the 2013-2014 academic school year.
The requirements for the new facility call for full site development including permits, geotechnical, and civil design as well as landscaping, extending utilities, and integrating the fire alarm system with the existing structure. After evaluating three companies including one site contractor and another modular builder, Arlington Classics chose Ramtech's ABS method for their new building. Using a two-step design-build approach, Ramtech will provide the School a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) at the 60% design level. This process provides for substantial savings on design fees and enables them to know up front what the complete project will cost before having to commit to a construction contract. According to Gary White, Ramtech's vice-president of sales and estimating, “By combining our ABS method with a design-build contract approach, we can provide a new facility for Arlington Classics at the best possible value in the fastest time possible.” The Type V wood frame structure will incorporate a panel brick and stucco exterior, with vinyl composition tile flooring and vinyl covered gypsum wall coverings on the interior. Heating and cooling will be accommodated using 13 three-ton wall mounted package units.
The Arlington Classics Academy was founded by a group of parents in 1999 that wanted their children to experience an accelerated curriculum of Spanish, Art and Music from Kindergarten through the 6th grade while incorporating relatively small class sizes and a strict code of conduct that included uniforms. The School's stated goal is to develop students who are fully armed with all the tools western civilization offers, including a clear understanding of American culture and those that preceded it. Students from the Tarrant, Dallas, and Johnson county areas are eligible to attend, and over 1,000 students are currently enrolled at the School's two campuses.
