Davis LLP's Rod Snow Named Queen's Counsel

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Dec. 14, 2012) - Davis LLP is pleased to congratulate Rod Snow, Office Managing Partner of the firm's Whitehorse office, on being appointed Queen's Counsel in the province of British Columbia. Rod is the first lawyer based in the Yukon to have received this designation since the federal government discontinued federal Queen's Counsel appointments in 1993.

"Rod Snow is recognized at Davis LLP and in the Canadian legal community for his leadership, dedication and vision," said Rob Seidel, Firm Managing Partner of Davis LLP. "He has been essential in the firm's strategic growth in the north. His service to the profession with the Canadian Bar Association, most recently as the national president and past president, has been an inspiration to all. I cannot think of a more deserving recipient."

The Queen's Counsel designation is an honour conferred on members of the legal profession to recognize exceptional merit and contribution. The successful candidates demonstrate professional integrity and good character, and have been a member of the British Columbia bar for at least five years.

"I am very pleased to see that Rod was honoured with the Queen's Counsel designation by the province of BC. It is a great honour and much deserved," said Ronald Friesen, Chief Executive Officer of The Continuing Legal Education Society of B.C. "His work on improving access to justice for individuals with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) will stand the test of time. His leadership on this issue alone makes him worthy of provincial and national recognition." Rod led the charge on the FASD resolution by the Canadian Bar Association (CBA), influencing the American Bar Association to pass a similar resolution the following year.

Rod Snow has extensive experience in mining, finance, Aboriginal and environmental law. He served as national president of the CBA from 2010 to 2011, during which time he was an advocate for access to justice and championed legal expenses insurance for the middle class. He chaired the first Continuing Legal Education of B.C. (CLEBC) course on environmental law.
