Erskine Bowles, former co-chair of the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform and former White House Chief of Staff, will be the keynote speaker at the CFA Society Chicago 26th Annual Dinner on Wed., Nov. 7 at Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park. With the Presidential election decided less than 24 hours prior, and as the architect of the Simpson Bowles agreement, Bowles is one of a select few with the insight and authority to candidly address the challenges and opportunities facing the next administration in addressing the financial struggle that our nation can no longer avoid.

A successful businessman who leveraged his experience in the private sector to control spending in the public sector, Bowles served as the Co-Chair of the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform, a bipartisan group looking to erase the United States' multitrillion-dollar debt. Early in his career, Bowles worked for Morgan Stanley and founded his own financial investment company before joining the Clinton Administration to run the Small Business Administration and eventually become President Clinton's Chief of Staff. As Chief of Staff, he was a pivotal negotiator in getting America's first balanced budget in decades. Bowles also served as President of the University of North Carolina between 2005 and 2010.
