CompatibleOne and UShareSoft will cooperate to offer end-to-end multi-cloud application image management
CompatibleOne and UShareSoft will cooperate to offer a comprehensive and efficient end-to-end solution for multi-cloud provisioning and deployment of application images.
Santa Clara, CA, Cloud Expo West (PRWEB) November 05, 2012
OW2, the global open source infrastructure software community, announces today at Cloud Expo West in Santa Clara, CA. that CompatibleOne, The Open Source Cloud Broker, and UShareSoft, the leading cloud software factory and app store platform provider, have initiated a strategic cooperation. Together, CompatibleOne and UShareSoft will offer a comprehensive and efficient end-to-end cloud application image management solution from the management of image templates for application packaging to multi-cloud provisioning and deployment.
CompatibleOne is a new-generation cloud resource management and automatic provisioning software environment powered by service brokering capabilities. CompatibleOne helps deploy cloud applications on any cloud service provider platform to comply with customers' constraints in terms of technology, budget, geography, legal requirements, etc.
The UForge image template management platform includes a VM factory for building, publishing and managing application images and cloud server templates; and an enterprise app store, where users can upload, share, clone and customize server templates.
The cooperation between CompatibleOne and UShareSoft will result in three integration scenarios:
1) In the first scenario, the image containing a customer's application is created using UShareSoft's UForge image template management platform and deployed on the appropriate cloud service provider platform according to the customer's choice using CompatibleOne.
2) In the second scenario, UShareSoft's UForge factory and app store are integrated to power the CompatibleOne Image Production Service (COIPS). Thanks to UForge, customers are able to easily assemble and build their application using CompatibleOne-compliant images.
3) In the third scenario, sthe UForge app store and CompatibleOne Brokerage platforms are fully integrated to offer the ideal application marketplace. This integration provides customers with capabilities to use ready-to-go cloud server templates from an App Store, or build custom middleware and application images, with all the benefits of cloud services brokerage to place their cloud software images on the most convenient platforms, either private, public and/or community clouds.
“The CompatibleOne Broker combined with UShareSoft's UForge enables end-to-end builds on any hypervisor and provisioning on any IaaS cloud platform,” says Alban Richard, UShareSoft CEO, “this is a real breakthrough for building out-of-the-box hybrid enterprise cloud solutions,” he adds.
“Combining UShareSoft and CompatibleOne technologies enables consumers not only to design the right solutions that match their own business models but also to choose the cloud service providers that will provide these solutions,” says Jean-Pierre Laisne, CompatibleOne Project Coordinator, “UShareSoft brings a unique value to the CompatibleOne platform as it simplifies significantly the consumption of cloud services,” he adds.
The cooperation between CompatibleOne and UShareSoft will contribute to the open standardization of cloud services by extending the OCCI-compliant CompatibleOne Resource Description System (CORDS) model with all attributes and categories corresponding to application packaging.
CompatibleOne is an open project: its software will be made available to the global open source community through the OW2 Open Source Cloudware initiative (OCSi). The OSCi is the vehicle which enables participants from all over the world to join in the action.

The CompatibleOne collaborative project develops the first industry-grade open source cloud broker. CompatibleOne was launched as a collaborative project to come up with ideas addressing the need for interoperability in the field of Cloud Computing. The project quickly evolved until it converged in developing a cloud computing broker. CompatibleOne is an open source collaborative project supported by 14 partners. Its technology is based on open standards and its approach fully leverages OCCI, the open cloud computing interface. CompatibleOne has defined a four-step fully functional manifest-to-service provisioning cycle of the CompatibleOne broker. The CompatibleOne platform is aligned with the Cloud Computing Reference Architecture2 of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Visit http://www.compatibleone.org
