Plumbworld Twitter Hits Follower Milestone

With social media featuring so heavily in the majority of online business portfolios now, it's no wonder that Plumbworld have been pushing hard on Twitter. The UK's largest online bathroom retailer has recently hit 4,000 followers... watch out Stephen Fry, Plumbworld are coming.

Evesham, Worcestershire (PRWEB UK) 3 November 2012

Don't worry Stephen, they've got a good 4.9 million followers to go before they're on your heels.

But that's not to say that 4,000 followers isn't an accomplishment. Considering most people when surveyed weren't big fans of ‘following' or ‘liking' businesses in social media environments, getting this number of people interested in their content is certainly an impressive feat.

Plumbworld have been at the forefront of online retailing since they started selling bathrooms to the UK back in 2000. Since then, they've concentrated their marketing efforts entirely around the online market as this is where they believe the future is. No high streets shops, no showrooms, the future is in convenience and the ability to buy from anywhere at any time; this is what the internet provides.

The Plumbworld Twitter page has been active for a couple of years, but only over the past 12 months have the marketing team really started utilising it to its full potential. Similar to their Facebook page, Twitter is being used to mostly keep past, current and future customers up to date with the latest goings on, special offers and competitions as well as the odd informative piece of information or picture (which inevitably have a cat on with a caption).

So far this seems to have worked effectively at getting new users to follow the brand whilst keeping old followers interested enough to remain in contact. Thus it appears the team have found and established a good ‘middle ground' in social media marketing.

Scott Morris, E-Commerce Manager explains more: “Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and all the other social media sites out there at present provide us with brilliant ways to interact with our customers and visitors. Although they might not be a direct relation to extra turnover, they do help us establish an online presence and get the word out about our brand which is essentially a tertiary form of marketing. Every little bit we do online is related to growing the brand, presence and sales – and so far, social media appears to be a good allocation of our time!”

Scott and the other team members advise people to stay tuned on as many social media outlets as they can for the Plumbworld brand as there are always discounts, special offers and competitions to get involved with.

Earlier on in the year, Plumbworld gave away a Kindle Touch and are planning to host a competition for a free bathroom suite later this year. is hosted on the large Online Home Retail network at present. The network already hosts close to 50 niche-specific websites which sell a whole range of products, varying from heating equipment and garden strimmers to cheap woodburners and multifuel stoves. Online Home Retail Limited was originally Plumbworld Ltd back in 1999 and since then it has been bought by the Grafton Group PLC in 2006 and received a brand overhaul in June 2012. The business now employs close to 60 people in its purpose built warehouse and offices whilst turning over in excess of £20 million per year.
