Stephensons and the BBC cook up a storm in Tideswell
Stockport-based catering equipment supplier, Stephensons, is to star in a BBC documentary due to air on BBC One. The family-run company – who has been supplying the catering trade for the last 143 years – has been chosen by the BBC to appear in a show presented by Sarah Beeny, called The Village SOS.

The series is a partnership between the BBC and the BIG Lottery Fund and shows six enterprising rural villages reviving their local communities through new business ventures, with the help of a £400,000 grant. Their progress will be filmed by the BBC for a major new prime-time documentary series.
The show follows members of one winning project, Taste Tideswell, picking catering equipment from Stephensons to kit out its Tideswell School of Food. It is hoped that the project will teach local people how to grow, cook and sell good food, with the aim of transforming Tideswell into a community sustained by its own economy.
Stephensons, who boast the largest catering equipment showroom and cash and carry facility in the North, has supplied equipment to kit out both the teaching and community kitchens at the Tideswell School of Food.
Henry Stephenson, marketing director at Stephensons, said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for Stephensons. We are delighted to be a part of such a proactive community project like this one, which has everyone pulling together to improve its local economy.”
