Champion AC's San Antonio Energy Champions Program Closes Out Energy Action Month on a High Note
Champion AC is closing out Energy Action Month after speaking to more than 250 students in ten classes in San Antonio's Northside and Northeast Independent School Districts. The Champion AC team is in its second year of its San Antonio Energy Champions initiative in which they educate elementary-aged students about the importance of energy efficiency.

The SAEC program, which just began its second year, educated more than 1,500 students from kindergarten through fifth grade about the importance of energy efficiency in its inaugural year. Champion AC's owners, Ben Hubbert and Tony Martinez, visited schools in Northside Independent School District to teach them about energy efficient tips, taking care of our environment and how they can be leaders in the green movement.
This school year, SAEC will expand to reach students in Northside ISD, Northeast ISD and East Central ISD. The energy-saving educational initiative will speak to fifth grade classes across the city to prepare them for what they can do to make an impact on saving energy, the environment and cost in the long run. During Energy Action Month, Champion AC's team spoke to ten classes of students at Christian Evers Elementary and Braun Station Elementary.
“Being able to relate energy efficiency to children in elementary school is of utmost importance so that they can carry the torch and make a positive impact and they continue to mature and gain responsibilities,” said Ben Hubbert, co-owner of Champion AC and co-founder of SAEC. “We know that education empowers, so we're educating about information that students can apply to their everyday actions.”
The presentation is at no charge to students, teachers or schools. The school presentations are just one facet to San Antonio Energy Champions. Since April, 13 schools, two institutes of higher education and three hotels have been participating in the San Antonio Energy Champions Building Competition in an effort to reduce their energy usage. Beginning early 2013, the San Antonio Energy Champions will launch an art contest for students asking them to illustrate what it means to be an Energy Champion.
