Two Ten Responds to Natural Disasters
Hurricane Sandy prompts Two Ten Footwear Foundation to kick into high gear once again.

Following the large-scale response to Hurricane Isaac in August, Two Ten again lets shoe companies know the Foundation is prepared to help.
According to Kate Alley, Director of Programs and Scholarships, “A total of $41,745 was distributed to 144 families following Isaac, we expect this amount to pale in comparison to Hurricane Sandy.” This storm covered a much wider swath of territory and left destruction in many Mid Atlantic and Northeast states. According to The Red Cross, an estimated 60 million people will be impacted by this devastating storm. Two Ten knows many of those people are in the shoe industry and will turn to the Foundation for help.
While Two Ten's offices are located in Massachusetts and its own staff was impacted, Two Ten responded immediately following the storm. Communications were sent to footwear companies known to have employees in the storm's path. Two Ten can help with financial assistance for food, clothing, emergency supplies and short-term housing needs. Two Ten also provides crisis counseling and information and referral services.
According to President Neal Newman, “Natural disasters require immediate response and Two Ten is a first responder. Once shoepeople call the Foundation, they can count on help – help provided by a generous industry.”
