Free Documentary of a 4,834 Mile Walk Across America to Help End Childhood Obesity

With the rise of technology there has been a detachment from nature and a similar rise in childhood obesity. The founder of I Need to Go Outside aims to take advantage of that technology so that others can follow along with him on a 4,834 mile journey, as he walks across America to help kids reconnect with nature. Free gifts will be given to those who help him reach this goal; details can be found on

Lock Haven, PA (PRWEB) November 01, 2012

Ben Guinter, founder of an outdoor travel site called I Need to Go Outside, is a strong believer in "practicing what he preaches" so it's no surprise that when he encourages others to go outside more often, he's actually getting outside more often himself. But what may come as a surprise to many is Ben's goal to walk alone from Delaware to California, to serve as an example, and to show others the changes that come about when reconnecting with nature, and fulfilling that desire of exploration we all have inside us.

"Starting on February 23rd, 2013, I'll be walking anywhere from 20 to 60 miles a day, to complete my 7-month-long journey, and I plan on recording daily videos and uploading them to YouTube, so that people can come with me on the journey and possibly be inspired to explore the great outdoors a little more often themselves," says Ben.

He's seen how his outdoor videos have inspired others to explore the places he's gone in the past, but he won't just be an inspiration; Ben also plans to give back to an organization bigger than himself. As he travels across American on foot, Ben will also be keeping a daily journal, to document his thoughts and changes that this journey has brought about. The journal will be turned into a book and 10% of all the profits from that book will go to the Children & Nature Network, to help them continue to fight childhood obesity in a natural way: Reconnecting children with nature.

Anyone willing to help Ben reach this goal, to change lives through an extreme outdoor challenge, will receive free gifts, above and beyond the free documentary of his journey. For more information on how to help and what gifts will be given away, go to
