ATLANTA, Nov. 6, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- U.S. Security Associates is saluting the nation's military with full force recruiting of veterans and reservists. In the 2011 reporting period, the company hired 1,483 men and women who have served in the armed forces, and CEO Chuck Schneider is looking to drive that record number even higher in 2012 and beyond. Schneider, a former naval officer, has issued a military recruiting mandate to every U.S. Security Associates branch office: the heroes who have defended American borders and freedom are U.S. Security Associates' first choice to protect people and property for clients.

Veterans already make up 14% of the company's total workforce, a strong showing considering that they represent less than 8% of the entire U.S. labor force, according to the Department of Labor's most recent numbers. But "the need to help get veterans on career paths has never been greater," says Raymond Weeks, vice president, Veterans Initiatives at Prudential Financial. His observation is based on the findings of a recent study conducted by Prudential, in partnership with Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America.

The Veterans' Employment Challenges study reveals that nearly 70% of veterans consider finding a job to be the greatest challenge they face in transitioning from military to civilian life.

Through partnerships with military employment groups, U.S. Security Associates is connecting veterans with careers where they can deploy their leadership skills and training on the home front. U.S. Security Associates is involved with Warriors to Work, Employer Partnership of the Armed Forces, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce "Hiring Our Heroes" program and RecruitMilitary.

In June 2012, U.S. Security Associates was one of over 50 local and national companies exhibiting at the RecruitMilitary Opportunity Expo at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. RecruitMilitary is a leading military-to-civilian recruiting firm that operates hundreds of hiring fairs every year.

Angela Myers, U.S. Security Associates' Regional Recruitment Manager, said, "The Opportunity Expo gave us great exposure to highly qualified and motivated military veterans. I have had about 20 candidates that I met at the expo come to my office to interview with me, and I have already hired 8 of them."

U.S. Security Associates plans to continue building brand recognition as a military-friendly employer through veteran job fairs, national employment groups and local resources. By making military outreach a top priority throughout the company, U.S. Security Associates is telling America's heroes, "Thank you for your service."
