QualiTest Group, a global leader in Quality Assurance and Software Testing Services, announced today it has begun a long term strategic testing partnership with Stratus Technologies of Maynard, MA. Stratus is the world's leading provider of high availability server and software solutions. Stratus produces support multiple operating systems by Microsoft, VMware, RedHat and an in-house OS called VOS . Whenever Stratus has a new release of its software or a new version of either of these operating systems comes out, extensive testing must be performed.

Stratus was unable to maintain the team required to test all these platforms simultaneously which was increasing time to market and driving testing costs up... This meant, at times, customers had to wait for a new release of a particular O/S version to become available. For customers using more than one Stratus platform this was a significant issue.

Stratus also wanted to improve its test processes, invest in test automation and at the same time was experiencing pressure to reduce the size of its in-house QA team. By partnering with QualiTest to handle the resource ramp up/ramp down they required, Stratus would be able to save money and the administrative burdens associated with variable staffing requirements. Stratus estimated that they might need to add as many as 15 software test professionals to complete a test cycle but once the testing cycle was complete, it would not need these resources for months on end.

QualiTest was selected because of its software testing expertise, because of its ability to flexibly and cost effectively add or remove test resources and because of the proximity of QualiTest's CT Test Center to Stratus' office in MA. Specialized knowledge about software test automation and Windows Certification testing (WHQL, WHCK) was also a benefit of working with QualiTest. Finally, QualiTest's willingness to establish a Managed Services contract with a Service Level Agreement (SLA) and compensation based on meeting selected Key Performance Indicators (KPI) impressed the Stratus team.

To provide optimal service, a QualiTest On-Site Coordinator was located along with Stratus' team in Maynard, MA. The On-Site Coordinator provides a single Point of Contact to interface with Stratus' management and their QA team. The rest of the QualiTest team was situated at QualiTest's Fairfield, CT office from which they execute test cases remotely by accessing Stratus' servers over a VPN. They send their results to the On-Site Coordinator who then reports the results to the Stratus team. Stratus' QA Manager tracks performance versus the test schedule and hosts a weekly teleconference to discuss progress, problems, and changes in the test plan.

"The QualiTest team completed the first round of testing on time and on budget even while taking on 20% more test cases than were originally planned". Said Yaron Kottler, QualiTest CEO "A major initiative to increase the amount of test automation coverage is in the works and the first round of Windows Certification testing is also being planned along with the next round of O/S testing" Yaron added.

Stratus' QA Manager said, "The QualiTest team quickly learned our unique systems and test environment and was productively testing a lot sooner than anyone expected”.
