Category Award Winners Announced for City Business Award 2012


Women in the City Recognised the Top Seven Category Award Winners for the Woman of Achievement Award 2012

Women in the City announced the seven outstanding women who won their category for the Women in the City Woman of Achievement Award programme for 2012. The Category Award winners were named last night at the Women in the City Celebration event sponsored by Lusso - which provides the ultimate in corporate dining for leading legal, media, accountancy, insurance and banking firms – and held in the Museum of London, Docklands.

The highly competitive award scheme saw a wide variety of talented female executives from across London and the Home Counties go head-to-head to compete for the Women in the City Award.

The seven Category Award winners for 2012 are:

  •     Accountancy – Heather Dixon, Vice President, Head of International Financial Reporting American Express International Ltd
  •     Facilities Management – Rebecca Stevenson, Lead Contract Manager, Royal Bank of Scotland
  •     Financial Services – Shachi Shah, Head of Funds and Advisory, Barclays
  •     Insurance – Jacqueline McNamee, Executive Director, UK Commercial Lines, Chartis Europe
  •     Legal Services – Denise Jagger, Partner, Eversheds LLP
  •     Medicine – Professor Jane Dacre, Director, UCL Medical School
  •     Technology – Emma McGuigan, Senior Executive, Accenture UK & Ireland

Each category is endorsed by a relevant professional organisation that helps to; promote the awards, provide a Judging Panel, select the Category Winner, and presents the Award Certificates.

The overarching aim of the Women in the City Woman of Achievement Award is to highlight and formally recognise the outstanding contribution these women make to the City and in particular to identify those who are actively promoting and encouraging the progress of women above and beyond their everyday job. The Award identifies excellence and celebrates the achievements of senior and partner-level professionals working in London's business hubs.

The main Woman of Achievement Award prize for 2012 includes a place on the prestigious Accelerated Development Program delivered by The University of Chicago Booth School of Business at its London campus. This prize will be presented on Friday, 23rd November at the 10th Annual Women in the City Annual Celebration Lunch held at Plaisterers' Hall, London.        

The Award judging panel is chaired by Prof Susan Vinnicombe, OBE, Director, Cranfield International Research Centre for Women Leaders. The principal aim of the Women in the City Woman of Achievement Award is to highlight and formally recognise those women who, as well as fulfilling a demanding senior level role, are actively promoting and encouraging the progress of women in their organisation and sector.

About Women in the City: - Launched in 2003 Women in the City has built a strong presence in London's business hubs and its Annual Celebration Lunch is one of the City's signature events. It attracts sponsorship from major corporates and its Awards Programme has the backing of the UK's major professional bodies.
