The Meadows trauma and addiction treatment center is sponsoring a free lecture in Austin, Texas on Thursday, November 8 presented by Mary Ober, Ed.S and A. Michael Johnson, Ph.D., PLLC on the topic of “A Rough Guide to the First Year of Recovery: Tips, Pitfalls and Lessons Learned.” It will be held at the Riverbend Church from 7:00 to 8:30pm and no registration is required.

The Meadows trauma and addiction treatment center is sponsoring a free lecture in Austin, Texas on Thursday, November 8 presented by Mary Ober, Ed.S and A. Michael Johnson, Ph.D., PLLC on the topic of “A Rough Guide to the First Year of Recovery: Tips, Pitfalls and Lessons Learned.” It will be held at the Riverbend Church from 7:00 to 8:30pm and no registration is required.

Ober is a Human Resource Executive with extensive results-oriented experience in planning and delivering strategic HR practices and programs to increase organizational effectiveness. Johnson is a Psychologist and Ericksonian Hypnotherapist.

The presenters will bring their professional and personal experience to discussing the issues likely to arise in relationships early in recovery. Learning objectives include:

  •     Understanding and anticipating the problems and attainments likely early in recovery.
  •     Appreciating the intrapersonal and interpersonal skills valuable in successfully navigating the difficulties early in recovery.
  •     Recognizing that mindfulness and caring are essential to couple's surviving and even thriving early in recovery.

The Meadows Wickenburg sponsors free lectures in various cities throughout the country. Speakers include local therapists familiar with The Meadows' model. Lectures are free and open to the public.
