Secure Planet's Executives Run Marine Corps Marathon in Shrapnel Shorts Ballistic Underwear
Veteran President and COO put their armor product through the ultimate test of comfort
Arlington, VA (PRWEB) October 29, 2012
Secure Planet's president, Mr. Bob Kocher, and COO, Dr. David Simon, put their Shrapnel Shorts armor product to the ultimate test of comfort yesterday by running the Marine Corps Marathon in the protective undergarments. The shorts withstood 26.2 miles of running without irritation due to the flexible, moisture-wicking, antimicrobial ballistic and mesh fabrics that keep skin cool and dry.
“From testing, we knew that the level of safety provided by our Shrapnel Shorts exceeded the government's ballistic and flame resistant requirements, but we wanted to assess the comfort level of the shorts firsthand in order to equip soldiers with the best product possible,” said Bob Kocher, President of Secure Planet. “After we put the shorts to the test in Afghanistan, we thought, what better way to demonstrate absolute mobility and comfort than by running a full marathon in them?”
The shorts substantially augment current body armor solutions by providing vital protection to the pelvis, femoral artery, and lower abdominal organs of U.S. soldiers against fragmentation, shrapnel, dirt and debris. Shrapnel Shorts are made of knit ballistic fabrics and contain pockets along the front inner leg that allow for optional flexible ballistic pads to shield the femoral artery.
Earlier this year, Secure Planet won a contract in support of the Army's Product Manager for Soldier Protective Equipment to provide 75,000 pairs of the Shrapnel Shorts for Army soldiers.
