Thought Leaders Come Together at Good Food Conference to Discuss Prop 37 and Issues Impacting the Way We Eat

The Good Food Festival & Conference and The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) will host a series of panel discussions featuring national and local leaders in the Good Food Movement on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012.

“I am happy to announce that the Santa Monica City Council adopted a resolution in support of Proposition 37 and I hope that California voters everywhere will add their support to mandatory labeling of genetically modified foods," says Laura Avery, Supervisor of the Santa Monica Farmers Market and speaker at the conference. “With the election just a few days away, this event will help raise awareness of the current issues on the ballot that impact all of us and the way that we eat.”

National and state leaders of the GMO labeling movement speaking at the event, including Andrew Kimbrell (Center for Food Safety), Dave Murphy (Food Democracy Now!), Arran Stephens (CEO, Nature's Path), Ann Gentry (Founder and Chef, Real Food Daily) and Ernest Miller (Chef, The Farmer's Kitchen), will lead a discussion on Prop 37 and the impact this measure will have on consumers.

Will Allen, urban farmer and author of The Good Food Revolution, will conduct a keynote presentation followed by a discussion moderated by Evan Kleiman of KCRW-FM on ways in which food can build community. In addition, Paula Daniels, who leads the Los Angeles Food Policy Council will moderate a discussion on ways in which local food production can create jobs and economic development. The Good Food Conference will take place on Nov. 3 at Noon at the Bing Theater at LACMA in Los Angeles. The museum will offer complimentary tours of works of art related to food and dining, starting at 10:30 a.m. on a first-come, first-served basis.
