MSSD releases Healthy Fun Activities for Children

Following the kick-off event in York, Pennsylvania, for the Girl Scouts' Healthy Promise program, Massage School San Diego has put together a list of healthy activities that young children can find both fun and physically challenging.

York, PA (PRWEB) October 29, 2012

The Girl Scouts in York, Pennsylvania, kicked off their Healthy Promise healthy living program this month with a “day of play” and physical activities. In conjunction with the event, Massage School San Diego, a promoter of massage schools in San Diego and healthy living, has released a list of fun, yet challenging, physical activities for young children.

Earlier this week, 450 Girl Scouts in York Pennsylvania, launched their Healthy Promise program at the Central York High School with a day of physical activities. The girls danced, did track and field drills, tried rock climbing, and participated in softball and soccer drills. Softball and track activities were run by the athletic teams at York College, while local team Soccer Shots coordinated the soccer drills. Participants also learned how to read nutrition labels and to make healthy food choices.

Following the Healthy Promise kick-off event, Massage School San Diego has put together a list of activities that are both fun and healthy for young children:

  • Playing tag: Tag is a fun, playful activity that allows a child to run and get their heart rate up, while also socializing with friends.
  • Swimming: Swimming is a great full-body workout for children. Whether it's competitive, as on a local swim team, or recreational at an area YMCA or community pool, it's a great option for keeping children active.
  • Bike riding: Not only is biking a great way to get to and from a friend's house or the local pool, it's a great way for a child to stay physically active
  • Healthy Snacks: With being active, children need healthy snacks to keep them fueled and feeling good. Raw food snacks are a great way to get nutrition quick and easy into a child's system.

The Girl Scouts, more formally known as the Girl Scouts of the United States of America, is an organization that aims to build character in and empower young girls. As part of the organization, girls earn badges for learning practical skills, such as first aid, community service and more. The organization was formed in 1912 and has a current membership of more than 2.3 million youth and 878,000 adults.

In conjunction with the Girl Scout's kick-off event for the Healthy Promise healthy living program, Massage School San Diego has released a list of great fun and physical activities for kids.
