Survey: 33% Have Been Victims of Credit Card Fraud, and More than Half Fear it Will Happen to Them

One in three has been the victim of credit card fraud, according to a CreditDonkey.com survey of over 1,000 respondents.

Over a third of survey respondents have been victims of credit card fraud, according to a new survey by credit card comparison website CreditDonkey.com.

Even consumers who have never been a victim of fraud are worried. Over half (53%) of respondents are worry about credit fraud happening to them.

Highlights:

  •     63% of respondents said their credit card company has called them to confirm a suspicious charge to a credit card. Of which, 28.5% said that the charge was in fact, fraudulent.
  •     62% of respondents were glad the issuer called, even in those cases when the transaction was not fraudulent. 9.5% of respondents were annoyed about the call.
  •     Over 75% of respondents reported that the credit card companies resolved the cases of fraud within a week.

CreditDonkey.com polled more than 1,100 respondents between September 17 and September 25, 2012.
