Kids undergoing long-term and follow-up treatment at Loma Linda University Children's Hospital's Specialty Team Centers will now enjoy a more comfortable setting – complete with an underwater sea theme -- thanks to support from Stater Bros. Charities.

A grand unveiling was held Thursday, Oct. 25, of the renovated Pediatric Specialty Team Centers, located at 2195 Club Center Drive, Suite G, San Bernardino. The unveiling marked months of renovations funded through a $55,000 gift from Stater Bros. Charities.

The renovation included all-new flooring, 3-D sea themed images on the walls, flat screen TVs, underwater murals, interactive toys, and more.

“This place feels very welcoming,” gushed Maria Raad, of Upland, whose son, Andrew, 13, is a patient. “The kids can come here and they won't feel scared about seeing the doctor.”

The Pediatric Specialty Team Centers at Loma Linda University Children's Hospital provides a comprehensive, one-stop care for children who have chronic health issues, such as cystic fibrosis, spina bifida, heart disease, and diabetes. Because of the frequency of treatments they often require, patients often spend much time at the centers.

“Stater Bros. Charities is committed to helping the smallest members of our community have the brightest future possible,” said Jack H. Brown, chairman and chief executive officer of Stater Bros. Supermarkets.

Randy Possinger, assistant vice-president, Loma Linda Health Office of Philanthropy, said the renovations would help enhance healing for the little patients.

“Stater Bros. Markets and Charities have been invaluable partners with Loma Linda University Children's Hospital Foundation helping our children experience the best care possible,” he said.
