Northwest Community Announces Plan for New Headquarters

Northwest Community Credit Union announced today a proposal to purchase property for the new construction and relocation of its headquarters in Oregon.

Springfield, OR (PRWEB) October 25, 2012

A proposal presented to the Eugene City Council October 22nd outlined Northwest Community's bid to locate a new building at East 8th and Ferry Streets next to the Federal Courthouse.

A downtown Eugene location is being considered after needs assessment studies determined new construction rather than renovation would best serve the growing credit union, which has recently opened three new branches in Oregon.

“We've been searching for a location that offers a key hub to extend our growing statewide branch network. To that end, we've developed several options for linking our West Eugene and two Springfield locations,” said Northwest Community President and CEO John D. Iglesias in an announcement to employees of the credit union.

“We anticipate more growth in the future,” said Iglesias in the statement. “To prepare for the needs of current and future members, we are eager to establish a location for the credit union's headquarters that also provides convenient access for our consumer and business members in the area,” said Iglesias.

If the proposal is approved by the Eugene City Council, the city and Northwest Community Credit Union will continue negotiation to complete the terms of a final purchase of the property. While the proposed site is the credit union's first choice, if during the due diligence process it is determined that the property is not suitable, Northwest Community will continue to consider other site options.

According to Iglesias, support center employees had adapted to a non-office space in ways that impacted efficiency and overall quality of work-life. The relocation will improve conditions for the support center's 150 employees and extend services to a new neighborhood, said Iglesias.

The credit union, first established in 1949 in Springfield, located its current headquarters at 3660 Gateway Street in a former furniture store showroom and warehouse in 2001. The credit union plans to continue to offer financial services in its Springfield branch locations.
