Cincinnati Human Relations Commission is hosting their 5th annual Great Youth Debate that will be on Saturday November 10th from 10 a.m. till 3 p.m. in the City Council Chambers located in City Hall. This year's theme is “The state of our economy in Ohio.” Each team will debate on issues that are related to topics such as education, healthcare and employment. The winning teams (1st - 3rd place) will receive a cash prize and each student who participates will receive a trophy.
The Great Youth Debate is inspired by the movie “The Great Debaters” starring Denzel Washington. Jaime Bryant, CHRC's Youth Services Coordinator comments, “The Great Youth Debate is an excellent platform for high school students to learn positive youth development skills. This plan of execution includes research, team-building skills, and debate skills in the format of competitive team debates using a project-based learning approach.”
