Fresno, CA (PRWEB) October 24, 2012

The IRS has recognized Aplos Software, LLC as a trusted partner and authorized IRS e-file provider. As a result, Aplos Software will now offer small, tax-exempt nonprofit organizations free e-filing of the IRS Form 990-N (e-Postcard) through their website

“It was an easy decision to offer free e-filing of the e-Postcard because it was a natural extension of our company's mission to make managing a nonprofit's finances simple and affordable,” said Tim Goetz, co-founder of Aplos Software. “We are proud to be one of the only trusted partners of the IRS to offer free e-filing.”

The IRS requires tax-exempt organizations whose annual gross receipts are normally $50,000 or less to electronically complete the e-Postcard (Form 990-N), unless they choose to file a complete Form 990 or Form 990-EZ instead. The e-Postcard is due on the 15th of the fifth month after the close of the organization's tax year. For example, if an organization's 2011 fiscal year was July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012, then their 990-N filing deadline is November 15, 2012.

Organizations that do not need to file the form include organizations that are included in a group return; churches and their auxiliaries, conventions or associations; and organizations that are required to file a different return.

Aplos e-filing is available to both Aplos customers and non-customers at no charge through their website. To complete the Form 990-N, the nonprofit will need to provide a valid email address, their employer identification number (also know as a taxpayer identification number), tax year, legal name, mailing address, any other names the organization uses, name and address of a principal officer, website address if the organization has one, confirmation that the organization's annual gross receipts are less than $50,000 or less for tax years ending on or after December 31, 2010 and if applicable, a statement that the organization has terminated or is going out of business.

If an organization fails to file the form three years in a row, the organization will automatically lose its tax-exempt status with the IRS. Visit for more information about annual reporting requirements.
