Image Conference to Welcome Illustrious Speakers from the World of Design
The BA (Hons) Graphic Design and BA (Hons) Graphic Illustration courses, within the School of Arts and Humanities at University Campus Suffolk (UCS), are holding a conference on 13 November 2012 which will address the question of what an image can do and its purpose.
(PRWEB UK) 24 October 2012
The conference, aimed at undergraduates, Alumni, creative professionals and academics, will see guest speakers bring different perspectives to the topic of image and provide a diversity of thought that will challenge views and energise new possibilities.
Speakers will include:
- Jonathan Barnbrook is one of the most influential and renowned designers of our time. Jonathan's work pioneers the notion of graphic design with a social conscience. Barnbrook is arguably most-recognised for his design of the cover artwork of David Bowie's 2002 album Heathen
The conference looks to support student learning and enrich the imagination of the students within the School of Arts and Humanities, as well as UCS. A common thread which runs through each of the courses within the School of Arts and Humanities is the exploration and investigation of Image.
Russell Walker, UCS Lecturer in Graphic Design, said: “Images are the things we all dream of but only a few are able to turn those dreams into decipherable pictures. Where do those images come from and how do they help us to understand the world we live in.”
“Attending delegates will enjoy a fascinating insight into the nature of Image, from international practitioners, and they are invited to contribute to the debate and enrich the experience.”
The conference will be held in the UCS Waterfront Building, Neptune Quay, Ipswich, from 10.00am – 16.30pm. Find out more on the conference and book your place.
