New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg has officially declared November 2012 in New York City "I Love Umbria Month"! Mayor Bloomberg cut the pasta ribbon at the opening of the Eataly Marketplace on August 31st, 2010 and now, over two years later, New Yorkers can continue to experience the many wonderful surprises Italy has to offer throughout the month of November.

During "I Love Umbria Month," New Yorkers will learn about Umbria's signature cooking through classes led by Eataly's chefs, taste the foods and wines of Umbria at the famed Di Palo's Fine Foods in Little Italy and the Di Palo's Enoteca (wine store), visit jewelers around the city showcasing Umbrian jewelery, and sample the superb wines from the region at NoHo's Il Buco Alimentari & Vineria.

Mayor Bloomberg in the proclamation expresses his appreciation for New York City's Italian immigrants, stating, "We will also often pause to recognize how residents of Italian descent have left such a lasting mark on New York. Italians customs and traditions have greatly enhanced our daily lives and strengthened our economy, contributing to every facet of our city in the process. As we celebrate the glories of Umbrian culture, we also celebrate all of the Italian-Americans who have worked hard to make this the greatest city in the world."
