Activu® Corporation, a leading provider of IP-based visualization and collaboration solutions for mission-critical command and control center environments, is pleased to announce continued success with energy and utility customers with its recent deployment at the Clarksville Department of Electricity (CDE).

The Clarksville Department of Electricity, also known as CDE Lightband, serves approximately 60,000 customers with 892 miles of power lines and 960 miles of fiber optic cable. CDE has been in operation as an electric utility for almost a hundred years. A few years ago, in response to its customers' needs, CDE successfully expanded its operations to include state-of-the art, light-speed, fiber optic digital communications infrastructure that provides comprehensive high-definition digital TV, high-speed Internet, and local and long distance telephone services.

More recently, to better serve its customers - with minimal service outages, quicker troubleshooting and repairs, and near-zero downtime – CDE upgraded its operations room with a state-of-the-art gird visualization system. With this new system, operators can visually monitor CDE's entire grid on a large-scale video wall display, control what is displayed on the screen, and aggregate input from multiple devices such as cameras, data loggers, cable feeds (for weather maps, etc.) and the Internet. Operators may also exercise Activu's capability to share information on the video wall with users in other locations, including mobile users with smartphones. As a result, CDE personnel can proactively identify problem areas, work-off a common operating picture and significantly improve incident response effectiveness and deliver higher customer satisfaction while minimizing revenue risks and reducing outage costs.

CDE's grid visualization system consists of Activu's intelligent visualization and collaboration software and a 3x3 grid of Mitsubishi's state-of-the-art DLP rear-projection video display cubes that form the operation room's central video wall. With Activu, CDE received seamless out-of-the-box interconnectivity with its ACS SCADA, GIS (geospatial information systems), outage management and data network monitoring systems. Activu's network-based, open-systems architecture provides future scalability, industry-leading visualization and collaboration features, and Activu's design and deployment experience with large-scale energy and utility video wall installations. With Mitsubishi, CDE's operations room now has the highest quality video display cubes for command and control center environments.

While Activu is currently deployed in CDE's Operations' Room, it will scale to provide intelligent visualization and collaboration for CDE's larger Command and control center, planned for the near future.
