Latest award for high performance switch that is deployed today in mission critical enterprise, carrier and HPC environments to scale cloud, virtualized data centers and Big Data

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Oct. 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Extreme Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: EXTR) today announced that it has been honored with CRN's 2012 Tech Innovator of the Year award in the Enterprise Networking category for its high performance BlackDiamond® X8 Data Center Fabric switch.

Extreme Networks was recognized Tuesday afternoon in a ceremony at UBM's NexTI conference at the Westin Lake Las Vegas, in conjunction with CRN, the leading publication of channel and IT solution providers.  Award winners were chosen by the CRN editorial staff based on technical merit and their investment in providing superior channel partner support. This latest award follows Network Computing UK's 'Data Center Product of the Year,' awarded in Spring.

"Our valued reseller partners want to promote solutions that give them innovations that differentiate their offerings while at the same time helping our mutual customers to accelerate their business goals," said David Ginsburg, CMO for Extreme Networks. "The CRN Tech Innovator Award recognizes our higher performance, energy efficient and truly open approach to cloud and data center infrastructures."

Extreme Networks assists its 500+ global channel partners in building robust and highly available network infrastructure with the right combination of performance, support and leading innovations.  The BlackDiamond X8 offers the highest tested 10GbE and 40GbE port density at wire speed according to Lippis Reports.
