Apple Map Glitch Dublin Airport "Relocated" to Farm reports Dublin Airport Car Hire

(EMAILWIRE.COM, October 27, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA -- Mapping software created confusion as to where the airport is exactly Roughly six miles outside the capital lies Dublin Airport. A iOS 6 map application says it is in different place. In fact the position given is actually a farm in Dundrum, located approximately three miles south of the city.

Justice Minister Alan Shatter stated that the map was wrong. Clearly the designation is not only wrong but is dangerously misleading in that it could result in a pilot, unfamiliar with the area, in an emergency situation and without other available information, attempting a landing. Shatter also stated that he had contacted Apple regarding the error and requested that it urgently be corrected.

Just in case anybody is confused Dublin airport is not moving to the south side, they tweeted. The airport was not the only thing that Apple got wrong in Dublin. It also misplaced the cities zoo.

The zoo, located on the grounds of Phoenix Park, shows that the zoo is in Temple Bar which is an enclave of Dubin that is full of bars and nightclubs.

Although some are making jokes about the Apple errors, others do not see cause for laughter. Many people in the Republic of Ireland are taking to social media to express their concerns for the mapping issue.

Apple stated that it would be working hard to improve the app, and was appreciative of the feedback from customers. Apple chose to create their own mapping system after deciding to part ways with Googles mapping system. The app was created using information from TomTom and other navigation programs.
