shaving years off your metabolic age.

Metabolic age as opposed to ones calendar age - is a reflection of physical health in the form of a calculation based on base metabolic rate (BMR). It tells somebody how quickly their body processes food and burns calories when resting. Metabolisms naturally slow down as we age, which often leads to weight gain. Therefore, the younger ones metabolic age, the easier one will find it to lose weight and more importantly to keep it off!

Upon arrival at REVIVAL boot camp, attendees are given an in depth assessment, which includes weight, measurements and heart rate (at rest and after exercise). This information is then used to calculate a persons BMR, and from that, their metabolic age. Clearly the higher the age, the slower the metabolism and therefore the harder it is to lose weight and keep it off.

Following the initial assessment, guests will then be put through a daily routine of exercise designed to speed up the metabolism. Up to seven hours of exercise will be built in to each day led by top Royal Marine PTIs. In additional to the exercise plan, all meals will be prepared by the in house chef and designed by a trained nutritionist to both control calorie intake and give provide sufficient nourishment to boost attendees energy levels.

All clients who come to REVIVAL boot camp are also provided with a digital device called a Fitbit which monitors ones steps taken per day, miles travelled, calories burned and minutes/hours of quality sleep achieved. Sleep is an important contributor to an individuals overall health and well-being and can have a significant impact on metabolic rate. The data collected from each Fitbit is then analysed throughout the week and used by the trainers to adapt the exercise and meal plan for each individual accordingly. The results are that only do clients shift the pounds, lose vital inches and lower their metabolic age but they go home with easy to use common sense tools to keep up the new regime with the continuing support of the REVIVAL team.

REVIVAL boot camp founder, Gerry Copley-Smith, says; Guests are often quite shocked when their metabolic age is revealed. In many cases, especially when an individual has struggled to lose weight in the past, their metabolic age is far higher than their actual age. We had a lady in her 30s whose metabolic age was in the 50s. The result gave her quite a shock, but by the end of the week she had taken ten years off her metabolic age and had lost the weight shed struggled to shift for years.
