SPIRE Institute Selected for 2012 Olympic Opportunity Fund

U.S. Paralympics, a division of the U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC), announced that SPIRE Institute is one of 97 organizations selected to receive the 2012 Olympic Opportunity Fund.

SPIRE Institute allows American athletes one of the best training venues and facilities for their sport development. The USOC identified 21 emerging level athletes to attend a Paralympic training camp at SPIRE in October in the sports of swimming, track & field and cycling. All of the athletes could potentially develop into national team athletes and possibly one day represent the U.S. at international Paralympic competitions.

This month, SPIRE will launch Engaging Vets through Sports and Rec – a free 12-month program which introduces veteran athletes to four different sports over the course of a year. Sports programming will include wheelchair basketball, swimming, weight training, and hand cycling.
