The California Capital Airshow Announces Scholarship Program Assisting Northern California Youth to Dream Big

The California Capital Airshow (CCA) (, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the importance of aviation for continued economic growth, inspiration and educational opportunities for today's youth, while enhancing awareness for the service and sacrifice of our military men and women, today announced the launch of its 2012 scholarship program and applications are currently being accepted through November 19, 2012.

“As a non-profit organization, the Airshow assists young people interested in science, technology, engineering, math, aviation, aeronautics or aerospace with a scholarship program,” said Darcy Brewer, executive director of the California Capital Airshow. “The CCA is more than just a thrilling, inexpensive ‘weekend of family fun'; it's an opportunity to encourage young people to literally reach for the stars. Over the past five years, with the support of our sponsors, community partners and faithful fans, we have had the privilege of awarding over 80 scholarships to deserving students and look forward to continuing our support of these future leaders.”

The program is now available and welcomes students from the northern California region to apply. Eligible applicants include high school seniors, college students or returning students who have at least two years of academic college level work yet to complete. The amount of each individual award depends upon the availability of funding, the number of scholarships awarded, and evidence of financial need. Scholarship recipients may receive up to a maximum of $4,000 per year. Scholarships granted for this year will be awarded to students attending or upon acceptance to an accredited college, university, or vocational-technical school in the United States. Applications are not limited to a specific geographic region; California residents are encouraged to apply.

“CCA would like to encourage students from Travis Air Force Base, Beale Air Force Base and the surrounding areas to apply. We simply couldn't do a show without their tremendous military and community support; this is a way for the organization to give back to those regions,” continued Brewer.
