The Marin Humane Society Takes on the 2012 Rachael Ray $100K Challenge to Save More Lives

Community support needed for chance to win $100,000 grand prize and save the lives of hundreds of animals in the San Francisco Bay Area. Vote online at VoteToSaveLives.org from April 5 to 16.

Beginning April 5, the Marin Humane Society (MHS) will be a participant in the Qualifying Heat of the 2012 ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge. MHS, the only animal shelter selected to participate from the San Francisco Bay Area, is competing for votes online at VoteToSaveLives.org for a chance to win more than $500,000 in grant funding, including a grand prize of $100,000.

The 2012 Rachael Ray $100K Challenge is a nationwide competition for animal shelters (and their communities) aimed at getting more animals adopted or returned to their guardians than ever before.

This first phase is the Qualifying Heat where eligible shelters compete to accumulate the most online votes from their supporters. The only way to support the Marin Humane Society and Bay Area animals is by voting online every day at VoteToSaveLives.org from April 5 to 16, 2012.

Working together, we would like to increase the number of spay and neuter surgeries performed, especially in our communities with lower income; and we would like to develop a robust adoption outreach program so animals have increased visibility throughout Marin County. The 50 shelters with the most votes become the official contestants for the 2012 ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge and go on to compete for more than $500,000 in grants, including a grand prize of $100,000.

The Marin Humane Society is a private, nonprofit organization and is not not an affiliate or chapter of any other national or local organization. MHS offers refuge, rehabilitation, and support services to more than 10,000 domestic animals and wildlife each year through a myriad of community services, including adoptions, foster care, behavior and training, humane education, pet assistance for people in need, lost-and-found pet services, low-cost clinics, and more.
