CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

MC10 has formation of a Sports Advisory Board (SAB) to shape the next generation of athletic performance monitoring devices. MC10's unique technology platform transforms high-performance electronics into thin, conformal systems that enable an entirely new class of athletic apparel and equipment.

Inaugural members of MC10's SAB include:

  • Matt Hasselbeck, three-time NFL Pro Bowl pick, quarterback for the Tennessee Titans;
  • Grant Hill, seven-time NBA All-Star playing for the Phoenix Suns;
  • Matt Birk, seven-time NFL Pro Bowl pick playing for the Baltimore Ravens;
  • Paul Rabil, champion Lacrosse player for the National Lacrosse League's Washington Stealth;
  • Angela Ruggiero, former Olympian and US Women's National Ice Hockey Team defenseman;
  • John Thompson III, head coach of men's basketball at Georgetown University;
  • Taylor Twellman, retired Major League Soccer and World Cup Soccer standout; and,
  • Kristine Lilly, retired Women's Professional Soccer and US Women's National Soccer Team star player.

MC10 is convening a team of accomplished athletes and experts across a variety of sports to advance the state of the art in athletic performance monitoring. The company's seamless sensing platform allows for sensors to measure hydration, heart rate, muscle activity, motion, and other indicators of athletic performance – and is nearly invisible to the user.

“Performance monitoring devices available today are generally bulky and generate limited, often low-quality data,” said Ben Schlatka, VP of Business Development & co-founder of MC10. “MC10 is developing the next generation of performance monitoring products, and input from this impressive team of athletes will be invaluable. MC10 has benefitted tremendously by working directly with people in the field, and our goal in forming the SAB is to bring that tangible knowledge in-house.”

Tennessee Titans QB, Matt Hasselbeck, noted, “Athletes that want to improve performance need better information than current wearable devices provide, and they need to be unobtrusive and comfortable enough to wear through vigorous training and during games. I'm excited to work with MC10 and my fellow SAB members to bring this innovative performance monitoring technology to the mass market.”

“Teaming with MC10 provides me with a unique opportunity to apply my experience to the development of this innovative new sports technology,” said Grant Hill of the NBA Phoenix Suns. “MC10's groundbreaking technology will provide athletes of all stripes with critical performance information that will inform the way we all train and compete.”

The MC10 SAB will meet on a regular basis. Additional members will continue to be added over the following months.
