OEConnection LLC, the parts e-commerce technology leader for OEM distribution networks, announced today that Senior Software Engineer Steve Harrison was named “Best Mentor” at the annual Expys Best Internship Awards luncheon, held on Wednesday, March 28, at the Doubletree Hotel in downtown Cleveland. Vladislava Cuznetova, a Cleveland State University student who interned at OEConnection and reported to Harrison, was also named a finalist in the “Best Intern” category. Presented by The Northeast Ohio Council on Higher Education (NOCHE) and Cleveland Business Connects (CBC), The Expys is a program that recognizes the best experiential learning programs in Northeast Ohio.
“We are extremely proud of Steve and his ability to guide and develop OEConnection interns as they apply their skills and academic training to meaningful projects,” said Amy French, OEConnection Director of Marketing and Human Resources. “As a key strategy to recruiting top technology talent to our organization, our internship program continues to demonstrate the fresh perspectives and new ideas that students can offer,” French said.
Under Harrison's supervision, Cuznetova, an Electrical Engineering major, was a key contributor in developing the OEConnection company intranet site.
“I'm flattered to win the Best Mentor award,” said Harrison. “I owe a lot to OEConnection for providing excellent experiential and development opportunities to our interns. It also helps that we recruit some of the brightest and most talented students to our program. I learn as much from our interns as they do from me,” Harrison added.
The paid internship program at OEConnection focuses on technology professions such as software engineering and application development, database engineering and development; quality assurance, systems/network technology; and systems administration. OEConnection hires 8-10 interns each year through college and university career fairs, information sessions, on-campus interviews, and student organization events.
