Amplify Credit Union Celebrates "International Year of the Cooperatives," Launches Cooperative Awareness Campaign

Amplify Credit Union today announced its plan to celebrate the United Nations' designation of 2012 as the “International Year of the Cooperatives” (IYC) by telling real-life stories of Austinites benefiting from cooperative contributions.

“Few people know that in the U.S., cooperatives generate two million jobs and have annual sales of $652 billion,” said Paul Trylko, president and CEO of Amplify. “We're excited to celebrate this designation and to show the contributions that cooperatives make toward social and economic development here in Austin.”

Each month, Amplify will share personal experiences that bring the principles of cooperation to life, including voluntary, open membership; concern for the community; education; training; and more. These stories will demonstrate the impact that cooperatives have on Austinites as individuals as well as its businesses and the community as a whole.

Amplify will capstone the campaign by inviting local credit unions and other cooperatives in the fall to host a finale celebration to draw further attention to the year's designation and cooperatives' significance in Austin.
