BATON ROUGE, La.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

The Shaw Group Inc. SHAW today announced it has signed a new contract with Arizona Public Service Co. (APS) to provide maintenance and construction services to eight fossil power plants in Arizona and New Mexico. The fossil contract is in addition to Shaw's contract with APS to provide maintenance, modifications, construction and radiological protection services to its Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station, located 55 miles west of Phoenix, Arizona.

“With the addition of fossil fleet services, we are continuing to develop a strong alliance with APS to help them safely and efficiently generate electricity for the long term,” said Ron McCall, president of Shaw's Plant Services Division. “Our successful model of directly managing projects, which embeds Shaw's vertically integrated services, will help seamlessly meet the evolving needs of our client.”

“Arizona's extreme temperatures and historical growth require the availability of power plants maintained at the highest level,” said Mark Schiavoni, senior vice president of APS Fossil Generation. “Shaw clearly has demonstrated it is able to provide the maintenance services our fossil plants need to help ensure the high level of reliability our customers expect.”

The undisclosed value of the three-year contract will be included in Shaw's Plant Services segment's backlog of unfilled orders in the second quarter of fiscal year 2012.
