Gainesville, FL (PRWEB) January 26, 2012

Solar Impact has partnered with the Alachua County Library District to utilize library roof space to generate much needed revenue for the library district. Solar Impact will design and install the library's solar electric projects. Several firms from around the southeastern United States competed for the project. Solar Impact's bid offered the highest roof lease payment to the library district.

The solar electric system on the downtown headquarters is nearing completion. Standing across the street at the post office, you can see 100,000 watts of solar photovoltaic panels on the library roof. In the next few weeks, an additional 100,000 watts will be installed on the roof of the Millhopper branch. Private investors will own the systems and receive revenue from Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU) under the successful solar feed in tariff (FIT) program. The library district will receive lease payments from the investors for the use of the library roof.

Solar Impact, based in Gainesville, Florida, is one of the largest solar electric companies in Florida. Solar Impact's primary mission is to “make solar affordable” so that homeowners and business owners can harness the power of renewable energy in a way that makes good financial sense. We buy solar panels direct from the manufacturer, keep our overhead low, and partner with licensed roofers and master electricians to ensure the highest quality solar installation. A licensed professional engineer designs every one of our solar photovoltaic systems. We provide a comprehensive solar financial analysis and help our clients obtain every solar incentive available.

The Alachua County Library District (ACLD) provides public library services to approximately 250,000 citizens in Alachua County. ACLD has 11 locations throughout Alachua County.
